Our standards
Bayethe Development Institute aims to be a transparent organisation that delivers high-quality services to beneficiaries, organisations, consultants, and other clients. Our procedures are designed to be reliable, transparent, and accountable.
Additionally, we do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour within or from our organisation. A work environment built on openness, commitment, and trust is vital to BDI employees and the entire organisation. There is also no room for bullying, sexual harassment, aggression, or discrimination. Therefore, all BDI employees, implementing organisations, and service providers must adhere to legal requirements and uphold the social norms and values outlined in our Code of Conduct, which everyone working for BDI, including partners, has signed.
BDI also strives to uphold the highest standards of financial management and accountability. We have zero tolerance for corruption, theft, fraud, or dishonesty. The BDI Safeguarding Policy addresses all these issues.
Bayethe development institute complaints procedure
Bayethe Development Institute aims to be a transparent organisation that provides high-quality service to beneficiaries, organisations, consultants, and other clients.
However, mistakes do occur. To help us learn from these mistakes and improve our performance, we invite you to file any complaints you may have about our service or staff, and to make suggestions for improvement. All stakeholders are obliged to inform their staff and service providers about the Bayethe Development Institute Complaints Procedure and where it can be found on www.bayethe.org
Bayethe Development Institute Complaints Procedure also addresses inappropriate behaviour—including (sexual) harassment, bullying, and retaliatory actions—by BDI employees, implementing organisations, and service providers (and their staff). If you prefer that BDI not be aware of your complaint, you can use our Whistleblower facility, which allows for anonymous reports (LINK). In such cases, an external confidential auditor will contact you.
Please email your complaint (or suggestion) to your BDI contact person, copying our Director at info@bayethe.org. If you do not have or cannot reach your contact at BDI, or if you wish to make a general complaint, you can email info@bayethe.org directly.
• Include the subject of the complaint and a detailed description in your email. Without this, it will not be considered a complaint.
• BDI only accepts complaints submitted within six months of the relevant event. Within two weeks, you will receive written confirmation of receipt and information on subsequent steps. If you are dissatisfied with the resolution, you may resubmit the complaint to the head of the relevant department (cc’ing director@bayethe.org).
If you remain dissatisfied, you can escalate the matter to higher levels of BDI management. If BDI cannot resolve the issue, you may approach our auditors, LCA & Company Chartered Accountants, MOBILE: +263773274838.
Complaints concerning inappropriate behaviour, including sexual harassment, will be forwarded to an external confidential auditor.
You will be contacted directly by these confidential auditors once BDI receives your complaint.
The responsibilities of the confidential auditor include:
- Assessing whether the complainant requires mental or physical support, and arranging this if necessary
- Advising on how to initiate a complaints process (Informal or Formal Complaints Mechanism)
- Guiding the complaints process
