Bayethe Development Institute (BDI) believes that the potential for greatness exists within every individual, regardless of their circumstances. We are a cross-border catalyst for social transformation, registered as an NPO in South Africa (2019/015056/08) and as a Private Voluntary Organization in Zimbabwe (PVO 05/19).

BDI was founded on a singular, powerful conviction: marginalized communities possess the resilience to thrive when given the right tools, knowledge, and support.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

The challenges facing today’s youth and marginalized communities are complex and interconnected.

Due to social and economic inequality and vulnerability, the barriers to success are high as systemic discrimination and marginalization persist, Bayethe Development Institute steps into the gap. We don’t just provide temporary relief; we build long-term capacity.

We are committed to turning “marginalized” into “mainstream” by ensuring that those often left behind are at the forefront of driving the sustainable developmental agenda.

We focus our expertise on four critical thematic areas designed to create a holistic cycle of growth:

Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights

Advocating for health equity and ensuring that youth and key populations have the information and agency to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures. Bayethe Development Institute adopted The Pleasure Principles and is a major part of The Pleasure Project. The Pleasure Principles are designed to serve as a guide and inspiration, supporting people and organizations in embarking on the journey toward a sex-positive, pleasure-based approach to sexual health. The Pleasure Principles aim to inspire and guide you as a pleasure activist, propagandist, or practitioner.

Grant making

Bayethe focuses on closing the resource gap in underserved regions through targeted grantmaking. We direct vital funds to rural community groups to promote grassroots innovation and support sustainable growth in areas that need it most. Our goal is to empower local leaders and enhance the social cohesion of rural communities, ensuring every organization has the financial resources to create significant, lasting impact from the ground up.

Economic Empowerment

Breaking the cycle of poverty by equipping individuals with the tools for financial independence, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.

Training & Education

Inspired by a teacher/educator, Ntombiyosizi Dlomo, who dedicated her life to imparting knowledge and skills, BDI is bridging the skills gap through targeted educational initiatives that prepare the next generation for the demands of a modern economy.
